Port Angeles Ends Fluoride

PORT ANGELES CITIZENS TOOK BACK CONTROL OVER MEDICATION PLACED IN CITY DRINKING WATER

The City of Port Angeles began water fluoridation in 2006. In a 2015 poll of fluoridated water customers, 56.6% said NO to fluoridation. The City Council voted 4–3 anyway to continue fluoridation for ten more years. The political backlash was astounding. In August 2016, the Council voted 4–3 to temporarily stop fluoridation and to hold, and abide by, a fluoridation advisory election. In November 2017, 57.5% voted NO on fluoridation. On December 5, 2017, the Council voted 5–2 to adopt Resolution 19-17 that ends fluoridation and disposes all of all fluoridation equipment.
