PPF Endorses Decommissioning of Roads in the Dungeness Watershed of Olympic National Forest

PPF submitted the following comments to Olympic National Forest regarding the proposal to decommission roads in the Dungeness River watershed. Here’s the link to submit comments: Dungeness Watershed Roads Management Project #49643

Protect the Peninsula’s Future, a non-profit corporation dedicated to wise land use on the north Olympic Peninsula since 1973, supports all aspects of Alternative A to decommission unneeded roads in the Dungeness River watershed of Olympic National Forest (ONF). Such actions are necessary in the interest of protecting endangered fish populations, and critical wildlife habitats, as well as prevention of illegal activities within ONF including ORV/ATV use, dumping, unlicensed shooting and poaching. This plan will benefit not only lands in ONF, but also within the greater Dungeness watershed communities—including Olympic National Park lands upstream from ONF, and communities downstream from ONF. We thank you for the opportunity to comment on this project.
Sincerely,
Steve Koehler—President, Protect the Peninsula’s Future
